Exquisite museum of Cretan Ethnology, in the village of Vori, 2km to the north of Faistos, 61 km away from Heraklion, offers a well-rounded exhibition of the cultural and traditional life on Crete. In 1992 the Museum exhibition wins theEuropean Museum of the Year Award (ΕΜΥΑ) from the Council of Europe. The exhibits are organized thematically, like rural life, food production, war, traditions, architecture, music, etc. Most items are well known to the locals; yet, the particular dim lighting gives off a retrospective view on the display cases. It is undoubtedly the best folk museum on the island, as it’s all based on the principles of modern Museology, definitely worth visiting. Good directions on road signing.
