Milia is an authentic 17th century mountain settlement which has been transformed into and eco-friendly tourist complex; it seems to have sprouted from the lands of Crete. A glorious location boasting exceptional rugged beauty in the area of Kissamos. Placed among plane trees, chestnut trees, and mountain tops reaching the skies, the area overwhelms visitors with its unique diversity. The philosophy of “back to basics” has found true meaning here.

This is a unique experience to escape in a different world. The Milia owners have put a great effort to restore the abandoned village, with a great respect to the environment, and a full organic food served in the tavern. The first day, we will visit a bio- olive oil press and learn all about olive oil, tasting some of it as well. Then we will reach the oldest olive tree in Europe, 3000 years old, and a small olive oil museum, and we will enjoy a wonderful lunch (included). Afterwards we will take the road to Milia, check into the rooms, each one of which has its own charm and architecture based on the local old features. Dinner on your own in Milia,(not included) and overnight.

After a very tasty breakfast, we will visit the bee – garden of a local bee keeper, and learn all about thyme honey production. Special protective bee keeper equipment will be provided. Then we are going to visit a local winery, and taste the different wines, and finally the archaeological cave of Ayia Sofia, which was used as an ancient shrine.Group dinner (included)and overnight in Milia.

Today we will explore the south east corner of Crete, driving towards the Chrissoskalitisa Monastery, and the unique beach of Elafonissi. We will stop for a visit in the very elaborate church of virgin Mary, and then we will enjoy the emerald green waters of the awarded Elafonissi beach. Later in the evening we will have a group dinner in Milia again, (included) our last night there.
