This program delves into Chania’s past as a city. We will walk from the Agora (Market Hall) to the eastern sector of the town, where archaeologists have unearthed important parts of Kydonia, the ancient settlement of Chania, so named for King Kydon the son-in-law of King Minos. Your guide will explain how these excavations, both finished and ongoing, give testimony to the early history of the town. We will also visit the Archaeological Museum of Chania displaying artefacts of the imple everyday’s pottery to the excellent jewellery found here and the whole western part of Crete. A different tour altogether!
